Margate

Margate was the name given to a stray kitten who appeared at the door of No 10 Downing Street in 1953. Prime Minister Winston Churchill immediately adopted the kitten, and as he had just delivered a speech at Margate, that was the name he choose for his new companion. The Prime Minister so loved Margate that the cat slept on his bed.
